50 By 50

I've known for a long time that I needed to shed some weight for many reasons - my doctors keep saying "It would really help if you would lose some weight", my clothes are snugger, I hate going into a dressing room to try on clothes (you know the things you utter when you see yourself in those full-length mirrors), just the feeling of sluggishness, with basically no energy. Well, a few months ago, I decided to take the challenge, after all I'm not getting any younger. The thought struck me that since I will be the BIG 5-0 on my next birthday, why not strive to lose 50 pounds by my 50th birthday. That is probably the best gift I could give myself. I know it would make me healthier and I probably could quit some of my daily meds. I have tried "dieting" several times in the past and have always ended up discouraged. So, having thought about this potential goal for the last few months, I just didn't know how to go about it.

Well, last week I walking by the bulletin board in the building next to the building where I work and there was a posting regarding an At Work Weight Watchers that had just started last Monday. I called and checked on it and they meet during lunch right in that building, so I decided to join knowing that having some accountability and motivation would probably help.

This is the end of my first week and it has been a very good week - I'm anxious for Monday to come so I can see just how good the week was. I feel so much more energized. I have been taking vitamins and supplements for the last several months so I'm sure that those help also. This next week I plan to start an exercise regimen too. (I wanted to get going on the "food" part before adding the exercise part). Anyway, I'm asking the Lord for daily strength to help me reach my goal. I know it won't be a "piece of cake" but I know that after all is said and done I will feel so much better physically, emotionally and in many other ways.

If there is anyone out there that has walked this path and has any helpful tips, please share those by leaving me a comment. One of my major problems is that I don't like a lot of vegetables.

Best wishes with WW! I'd like to lose some as well so once I get motivated/started we can check up on each other.
